Each semester, George Mason's GADIG (Game Analysis and Design Interest Group) club develops a game to put on Itch.io, and Morg's Mimics was its game for Fall 2020. I was an officer in the club (the "Programming Director") where I led a team of about 12 programmers and worked with three other teams (art team, design team, sound team) in creation of this game. Many of the programmers were new to the technologies we were using (such as Git, Unity, C#, and Visual Studio) so I spent many of our first meetings just giving demos and introductions. Making sure that everyone could push and pull code with Git, as well as teaching the members how to use Git in the first place, was tedious but necessary to ensuring that we could the spend the rest of our meetings productively. Work was delegated based on features which the design team would specify; I placed programmers on different subteams accordingly, making sure that each team had at least one seasoned programmer who the new team members could rely on for help. I was solely responsible for maintaining the master branch and merging others' branches, which I spent hours doing each week outside of meetings. Ultimately, the game was a major success, and it was a great opportunity to expand my skills as a leader and a programmer.
