Game Development

I've been interested in developing video games ever since I played "Super Mario Sunshine" on the Nintendo GameCube when I was four years old; I remember thinking "how can an entire world live on a little disc?" and hoping I could create my own one day. Since I began programming in middle school, video game development has been the primary avenue by which I've taught myself languages such as C++, C#, and JavaScript, as well as my primary motivator for working towards a Computer Science degree at George Mason. As a creative person, I really enjoy seeing how video game development incorporates so many different technical and artistic skills, such as programming, animating, sound design, cinematography, storytelling, and more. My primary interest with video game development is the computer graphics aspect to it; making my own game engine using C++ and Vulkan has allowed me to write the lowest level graphics code possible, which has given me more insight into how rendering works than any class that I've taken at George Mason. I don't know if I'll work as a video game developer as a profession, but at the very least, I will always make video games in my free time.
