Blender is an open source 3D animation and modeling software, which I began using as an alternative to Autodesk 3ds Max in high school to produce a scientific visualization (SciVis) animation. Since then, I have used Blender to do CGI (ie superimpose 3D graphics onto videos) and to make 2D animations for a college art class, but have primarily used it to model/rig characters and environments for my game engine.
